Hey all, it's another Celebrate the Small Things!
You know the drill: sign up on the linky, post celebrations for the week, and hop around the list and comment!
My celebrations for the week are simple:
I had a few days off with my boyfriend by the sea and we had a very lovely time. My Dad (who died some quite a few years ago now) always used to make us stop and breathe the fresh sea air the MINUTE we saw the sea at all, and I made my boyfriend stop the car when we got to the seaside to do the same. It is funny how small moments like that bring my Dad right back!
I am working this weekend and part of me kind of wants to still be on holiday, but am choosing to celebrate the overtime instead!
I have had a few LOVELY blog nominations, and I really really appreciate them. Thank you so much. I am slow re. responding with a post myself here but know that I appreciate it and welcome them and I thank you. I celebrate anybody taking the time to nominate me.
I am working this weekend so afraid I won't hop around until Monday most likely but I WILL visit. In a week or two I'll go through the list and if there are any not joining in, I will prune it to make it easier for us all to hop! :)
Glad you find a way to sin overtime as a positive. I'm not doing this hop this week but will be back next week. Glad you had fun with your boyfriend and yes little things do make us recall those we've lost.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the blog nominations!
ReplyDeleteI live 3 minutes from the sea so I know that distinct smell of the sea air... there's nothing quite like it...
Happy working weekend Vik!

I can't imagine a more deserving blog upon which to pin an award! Wonderful to remember your father. I remember a quote: God gave us memory so that we might have roses in December...
ReplyDeleteDon't work too hard this weekend!
Diana at About myself, by myself…
Glad you stopped and smelled the salty air.
ReplyDeleteYour list is really growing. Yeah, I have to prune the IWSG as well.
Your list has grown over the months! It is a great hop!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you are busy and life is treating well! Have a productive weekend!
I think it's great that you're choosing to celebrate the overtime. We can all find something to celebrate - it's all in how we look at things. :)
ReplyDeleteIt is nice that little things can remind us of happy times with those we have lost. Glad you had a relaxing break and hope the overtime goes well!
ReplyDeleteI love it when something small reminds us of something meaningful. It's the best kind of memory.
ReplyDeleteI'm doing a lot of overtime at the minute too; just think of the money! I get a three day break next week (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday is when I get my long weekend!) and I can't wait.
Ah yes, celebrating the overtime. I always tell myself I'll enjoy the paycheck when it comes.
ReplyDeleteI love the sea air. I live on a tiny peninsula so I get to smell it daily :) It's heavenly. I have some things that trigger memories of loved ones too. Its amazing how seemingly small things can impact us.
ReplyDeleteI love the sea air. I live on a peninsula, and smell it most of the time, but still when I get within sight . . .I stop and take a fresh breath. There is just something wonderful about it. Glad that it brings back wonderful memories of your dad, and that you were able to share that with your boyfriend!
ReplyDeleteglad to hear you had some time off to relax, i'm a bit jealous since miss being by the sea.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful memory and tradition from your dad. I'm glad you had that time to relax and enjoy. Even though you will be working, go ahead and have a great weekend and enjoy that overtime ;)
ReplyDeleteGlad you had such a nice holiday. Visiting the ocean is one of my favorite things to do. Nice that you can celebrate some overtime. Even though it's work, it's always nice to pad the wallet with extra cash too:)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you had a lovely getaway with your boyfriend. And it's great you're smart enough to celebrate the good side (overtime) of the bad thing (being back at work). :-)
ReplyDeleteThat is exactly how our loved ones stay 'alive'. Thanks for sharing that story. I am glad you had a few days to relax. I find we tend to not get enough of those! Pruning the list would be swell; I just joined last week and have made it through most of the list. I noticed there are quite a few people not posting.
ReplyDeleteGlad you got to have a few days off :)
ReplyDeleteYay for time by the sea. It's such a lovely place to be :)
ReplyDeleteI remember the first time I saw the ocean. It made me dizzy! It's sweet that a small thing brings your Dad back.
ReplyDeleteI thought I would join your Friday blog hop as a way to reconnect to blogging. I'm looking forward to next week!
It's always nice to have a few days off to rest the body and the mind. Glad you enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteMy Dad always had us look very carefully for the first sign of the sea as we came over the mountains into Durban. I still do that today when I go to the coast anywhere and, yes, I also always remember my Dad when I do that.
